Birth Asphyxia- Asphyxia means lack of oxygen & blood flow to the brain. Birth asphyxia happens when a infant’s brain and other organs don’t get enough nutrition & oxygen before, during or right after birth. This can occur without anyone knowing. Without nutrients & oxygen, cells cann’t work properly. Waste products (like acid) build up in the cells and cause harm to baby.

• How long baby doesn’t get enough oxygen
• What is the level of oxygen
• How quickly & effectively the treatment is given
